Biography

Pier Carmine Garzillo
Born in Naples in 1995, he graduated in Piano at the age of 17 with full marks and special mention, with a monographic programme about Franz Liszt, at “D. Cimarosa” Conservatory in Avellino, under the guide of M°Francesco Nicolosi, and he graduated in Chamber Music at “Incontri col Maestro” International Piano Academy in Imola, with the guidance of M° Nazzareno Carusi. He took the Master degree in Musicology at “La Sapienza” University in Rome, with full marks, when he was only 20 years old, and the Master degree in Interpretación Musical e Investigación Performativa with full marks at “Alfonso X El Sabio” University in Madrid, under the guide of M° Giuseppe Devastato. He also graduated in Musical Composition at “D. Cimarosa” Conservatory in Avellino, under the guide of M° Giacomo Vitale. 
Defined by the Italian critics “a solid reality of Neapolitan Piano School”, “Pier Carmine owns the touch and the cantabile that make him a worthy heir of Vincenzo Vitale"s teaching method” (Paolo Isotta). Considered “a pianist who can play every work with intelligence and artistry” (Akemi Alink), he can perform “interesting and emotionally rich interpretations, with high technical level” (Anna Kravtchenko). Award-winning in several national and international competitions, among which: the Grand Prix and Audience Prize at IV Cesar Franck International Piano Competition in Bruxelles (2016), the Grand Prix at VII Pianotalents International Competition in Milan (2017), the 2nd Prize at XVII Concurso Internacional de Piano “Compositores de España - Alejandro Román” in Madrid (2016), the 1st Prize at V Riga International Competition for Young Pianists (2016), the 2nd Prize at VII María Herrero International Piano Competition in Granada (2017), the 2nd Prize at II Concurso Internacional de Piano "Ciudad de Leganés" in Madrid (2018), the 2nd Prize at II Concurso Internacional de Música Agustín Aponte in Tenerife (2017), the 3rd Prize at I Concurso Internacional de Piano “La Rioja” in Logroño (2019), the 1st Prize at “Grand Prize Virtuoso Vienna 2016”, the 3rd Prize at IX Sigismund Thalberg International Piano Competition in Naples (2014). He also got special prizes for virtuoso skills and for the best interpretation of classical and romantic repertoires. He performed as a soloist, with or without orchestra, on well-known stages, in Spain, France, Austria, Poland, Russia, Belgium, Latvia, Italy, playing at: Müsikverein in Wien, Scriabin’s House and Museum in Moscow, Shigeru Kawai Center and Auditorio Joaquin Rodrigo in Madrid, Sala Eutherpe in León, Mazā Gilde in Riga, Conservatoire de Courbevoie in Paris, Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, Teatro Menotti in Spoleto, Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Castello Cinquecentesco in L’Aquila, Palazzina Liberty in Milan and so on. 
In 2019 were published his essay “Liszt allo Specchio: dal De Profundis al Totentanz”, by PM Edition, and the cd “Romantic Echoes” by Lunarossa Records - Classic recorded with the violinist Federica Severini. In 2020 was published his solo cd “Franz Liszt: Konzertsolos” by Da Vinci Classics. 
Actually he is a piano Professor at “D. Cimarosa” Conservatory in Avellino, and he is attending a post-master course at Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo with Enrico Pace, Roberto Plano, Pavel Gililov and Andrea Lucchesini.
